Sugarmill Woods

Sugarmill Woods is located in Homosassa Florida at the southern portion of Citrus County. Sugarmill Woods consists of three communities: Cypress Village, Oak Village and Southern Woods. A unique community, Sugarmill Woods was the first planned community to utilize the "green belt" concept. Every lot in Sugarmill Woods backs up to a portion of the natural wooded environment that was there prior to development. No two homes back up to each other, allowing privacy as well as a connection to nature and the look & feel of living on the edge of a forest.

Located in Homosassa Florida, Sugarmill Woods offers plenty of year round activities. Homosassa is well known for its waterways, including the Homosassa Springs which feed the Homosassa River. The Homosassa River is a great boating exploration destination and runs through the Homosassa Springs Wildlife Park. The protected park offers a zoo-like environment for native Florida wildlife including the Florida Black Bear, Whitetail Deer, endangered Florida Panther, otters, flamingos, eagles, owls, red tail hawks, turkeys, and of course, the world famous manatees.

As resident of Sugarmill Woods, one has only a short drive up US Hwy. 19 to access all that "Old Homosassa" has to offer out on Halls River Road. The Annual Homosassa Arts & Crafts Seafood Festival is favorite of locals and there are many colorful destinations here including the Homosassa Riverside Resort with the Yardarm Pub and the Monkey Bar with a view of Monkey Island.

Sugarmill Woods is uniquely situated at the southern tip of Citrus County and as such is only a hop and a skip to the Sun Coast Parkway which expresses you to the Tampa Bay area in only about an hour. This allows you the easy and relaxing lifestyle of Citrus County and the easy access to big city entertainment, shopping and dining.

Pinecrest Building Corporation can assist you in planning your new home in any of the communities of Sugarmill Woods.

Each community has its own golf course, part of the overall Sugarmill Woods Golf and Country Club. No where else will you find such integration of a golf course with the natural lay of the land and use of existing native vegetation. Designed by Florida's foremost golf course architect Ron Garl, the golf courses have received national acclaim.

The several club houses at Sugarmill Woods offer the finest golfing facilities around, with showers and locker rooms, well stocked proshops, organized activities, tennis, swimming pools, and fine dining. Simply driving around the neighborhoods of Sugarmill Woods gives you the feeling you are somewhere special.

The Homosassa Springs Wildlife Park contains one of the most unique features in the world; an underwater "fish bowl" that you descend into and observe the mammoth manatees as they swim gracefully in their natural environment. The warm spring-fed waters serve as a home to these gentle, prehistoric giants during the cooler winter months. Manatee tours are also available from many local snorkel and dive shops that surround the area.

Homosassa is also famous for its boating and fishing. The crystal clear spring-fed waters are home to some incredible snook as well as many species of other fish. The Homosassa River empties into the Gulf of Mexico and offers a gateway to excellent saltwater fishing. In fact, the world record tarpon was caught just off the coast of Homosassa, Florida.
